| Applications | Salvianolic acid A(SA-A) have been found to have potent anti-oxidative capabilities due to their polyphenolic structure. To investigate the protective effects of SA-A against impairment of memory induced by cerebral ischemia-reperfusion in mice and the relationship between antioxidant activity of SA-A and its protective effects on brain injury caused by reperfusion. Indicate that the ameliorating effect of SA-A on learning and memory impairment caused by cerebral ischemia reperfusion may be related to its anti-oxidant activity. SA-A possessing antioxidant activity has a significant protective effect against isoproterenol-induced myocardial infarction. SA-A could protect hepatic lipid peroxidation, and had marked effects against liver injur y and fibrosis in carbon tetrachloride induced fibrotic rats. It inhibited NIH/3T3 fibroblast proliferation, intracellular collagen synthet ic rate and type I pro-collagen gene expression, which may be one of the main mechanisms of the drug. SA-A has inhibitory effect on Cu2+ mediated human LDL oxidation through chelating Cu2+ and scavenging free radicals. |
